Chess

I love playing chess, always have, always will.

Early on, I was never really allowed to pursue it in the way that would have had me achieve the most from my potential, especially when I was taken away from it against my will at the age of 10. From the ages of 8-10 I wasn't given the chance to develop my skills through proper training, but my talent and love for the game prevailed. For my age at the time I was one of the best, at 8 years old having won the world-10 championships in San Juan, Puerto Rico, yet I have to wonder how far I could have gone back then if I didn't have anyone holding me back. In fact, I really fell in love with the game of chess at age 4 and dived into a fantasy world full of beautiful combinations and concepts where most importantly the game rewarded a job well done.

Chess is more to me than a childhood love. The game has stayed with me wherever I have gone. Even when I don't play for years my mind comes up with ideas and somehow when I come back I feel like an improved player. I decided to test myself in 2007 at a weekend 30 minute rapid tournament in beautiful Malbork Castle in Poland. I thought it would be cool to say I castled in a castle so this was my chance. :)

It felt great playing and I was happy with my performance especially later on in the tournament. I grabbed 3rd place , ahead of 2 Grandmasters and behind 2 Grandmasters. I have a few of those games available, as well as various games from my past here in .pgn notation.
